The Reason I Jump

On December 1st, 1985 British post-punk band Public Image Ltd. performed in Nagoya City Hall, Japan. This concert film includes an interview with singer Johnny Rotten (aka John Lydon) on a high-speed Bullet Train, where he acts in typical Lydon fashion, that being obnoxious. This film is a total rarity, as it was only released in Japan.

Dad's in Heaven with Nixon is a 2010 documentary film produced, directed and written by Tom Murray. It concerns the history of the Murray family and especially of Tom's brother Chris Murray, a man with autism whose paintings of cityscapes, first promoted by family friend Gloria Vanderbilt, have garnered widespread praise. The title refers to Chris' belief that his late father, who loathed Richard Nixon, is now friends in heaven with the former president. Ranging over three generations of Murrays, whose patriarchs struggled with alcoholism and bipolar disorder, the film treats of subjects ranging from father-son relationships to the Great Depression, from the effects of divorce on families to the cushy lifestyle of the residents of Southhampton, New York.

In “The Committee” 8 to 12 year old children explain how they decided to spend 7000 pounds. They discuss the process of decision making and the values guiding their decisions. The children are 11 regulars at a youth center in Bow, London, and were invited by the artist to spend her Emdash Award budget, normally aimed towards production of art work for Frieze Art Fair. The children were free to spend the money any way they wanted as well as to choose how to make decisions in a group.

The movie recalls children who suffered mental and physical harm both during the last century, particularly in religious orphanages, and during the time of early modernperiod witch-hunts. It shows that the mindsets and behavioural patterns of both time periods are more alike than one might think.
