Belle

LAND is a fluid series of formal land animation experiments based upon the imprint of landscapes in various locations and intuitive interpretations of those movements. A person receives old entries from their diary, unsure of who is sending them. They eventually arrive at a moment of transcendence.

An adaptation of the play "4.48 Psychosis" written by Sarah Kane. The movie consists of scenes that work as a fragmenteded voyage through the mind of a person on a deeply depressive state. Everything is shown in a raw and experimental manner to bring the feelings and emotions in the most pure form to screen.

The light's in a student's room begin to shut off around him. He must escape the room before he is swallowed by darkness.

For this film, Takashi Makino allowed himself to be inspired by the earth. In a never-ending stream of images, we recognize elements from the forest that he then reduces to an abstraction. The film came about as a classical composition in which the picture and the musical contribution of Jim O’Rourke link up seamlessly and lead the mood in turn. A sense of freedom is what predominates.
