A light and somewhat satirical look at the problems and pleasures of Continental holiday travel. A passenger on the Hook Continental Express from Liverpool St. imagines the possible destinations of his fellow passengers.

In the cabin the conductor activates the gear lever; his motion breaks the inertia. Behind is the station, then images of the machinery, the resignation of travelers, and the landscape. The events are increasingly bizarre; there is no destination, only the journey as metaphor.

In the 1840s, Ramsey MacKay, the driver for the struggling Wells Fargo mail and freight company, will secure an important contract if he delivers fresh oysters to Buffalo from New York City. When he rescues Justine Pryor and her mother, who are stranded in a broken wagon on his route, he doesn't let them slow him down and gives the ladies an exhilirating ride into Buffalo. He arrives in time to obtain the contract and is then sent by company president Henry Wells to St. Louis to establish a branch office.

Each year, hundreds of Central American migrants try to cross the northern border of Mexico on the freight train known as the Beast. That trip is usually the most dangerous journey of their lives. On the road many lost their dreams, their body parts and even their lives. Crossing Mexico is their biggest challenge, here are victims of discrimination, violence and even murder. This film portrays the suffering of those people who travel in search of a better life.

Former P.O.W. Jack Calgrove moves Heaven and Earth to be reunited with his children following the Civil War. Calgrove and another soldier team up with a troop of Native American sharpshooters and a freed slave as they try to stop the train.
