Brain Dead

Experimental film by Aldo Francia that consists in diverse situations through the 123 steps of the Santa Justina staircase in the Cerro Larraín of Valparaíso.

An attempt to bring the work of surrealist artists to a wider public. The plot is that of an average Joe who can conjure up dreams that will improve his customer's lives. This frame story serves as a link between several avant-garde sequences created by leading visual artists of their day, most of whom were emigres to the US during WWII.

Loosely based on an infamous 1984 Long Island murder case involving Satan-worshiping, teenage drug freaks (Knights of the Black Circle), David Wojnarowicz and Tommy Turner’s Where Evil Dwells is a low-budget D.I.Y. movie that walks the jagged lines between splatter flick, experimental film and transgressive art. The original footage was destroyed in a fire and the only footage that survived is this 28 minute preview that was put together for the Downtown New York Film Festival in 1985.

A faceless protagonist witnesses the alienation of gentrification as his home is overtaken by development. the forces behind it are demanding him to leave, but also consequently push him further and further into his not-home.

CRISP., wherein a jealous man's attempt to steal a delicious apple crisp causes reality to break down and begins a chain of events leading to an endless cyclical loop of jealousy and theft.

A priest senses a change in the Earth. The gates are opening and Hell is being unleashed. Meanwhile, a couple friends are having gruesome dreams of demonic mayhem and wonder if these are merely nightmares or a premonition.

A Schmelzdahin short wherein a print of a portion of Nosferatu (including the iconic shot of the vampire on the boat) has been degraded and abstracted through the bacterialogical decomposition, disintegration, and chemical processes Schmelzdahin would use.

A story of a group of humanoid rabbits and their depressive, daily life. The plot includes Suzie ironing, Jane sitting on a couch, Jack walking in and out of the apartment, and the occasional solo singing number by Suzie or Jane. At one point the rabbits also make contact with their “leader”.

A short, wordless horror film about the terrors lurking just beyond the veil of reality. Shot almost entirely on Super 8 and taking an experimental narrative approach to cosmic horror, Sungazer is an ultra-grainy, high contrast nightmare beamed from another dimension.

An abstract work featuring three dancers, the performers interact with large screens as well as each other. Included in Shirley Clarke’s Four Journeys Into Mystic Time, costuming and color play an integral role in this piece.

Failed musician Vanessa comes home from her stale office job one evening to find a version of herself already inside her own house, and descends into a nightmare from which she struggles to awake.

Things become shrouded when The Loner discovers a dead body outside his home. His mind becomes a prison of contradiction, falsification and fear when a series of dreams push him to realize the truth.

Within a single space, the director treats the sorrows of two people married to each other.

A mass murderer kills his victims, then cooks and eats them

A sexual reverie unfolds over the course of one ethereal night. Characters wander through an erotic maze of love and lust, blurring the lines between wet dream and lucid nightmare as a macabre, erotic stage performance sends a ripple of lustful desires through its audience and performers.

A gorehound named Marvin orders a lot of splatter movies for a movie marathon with his fellow gorehounds. He ends up ordering so much that he has trouble keeping up with orders. Come the day of the marathon, him and his friends watch gore and grime until very late at night. Just when they think the marathon is over, Marvin rediscovers one tape that he forgot all about... He quickly calls his buddies back over to watch it, and they soon discover that the tape is something far more ominous than they could have ever suspected.

Simultaneously sumptuous and gorgeous, garish and grim, this is a re-working of Pinocchio for the neo-liberal era. Rachel Maclean’s dark fairytale, which represented Scotland at the Venice Biennale 2017, depicts a brash and baroque binary world of poverty and riches where the prospect of easy wealth tempts even good boys like Pic into bad ways. But if everyone believes the lie, what’s the problem?
