On this day, I am in an oncology center, 6 days since having my tumor removed, and in the afternoon my partner ends our relationships. Cochlea

Organising Principles of Experience is an experimental short in which an AI model, tuned to the writings and sensibilities of Maya Deren, collaborates with the filmmaker to imagine new films. It explores memory, possession, and the digital afterlife, questioning what remains when the past becomes data and how an artist might lay claim to her absent hero.

A strange being loses its way in the chaos of the transportation system without finding an exit. The pathways are overwhelmed by accelerated flows that come and go like human waterfalls. The passersby, faceless, move automatically, creating a maze in which the routes seem endless. Sleepy and exhausted people merge with the surroundings, and as the bus continues on its way, the being finally manages to discover itself.

Proxima B is an experimental video shot entirely in stop motion. The camera moves frame by frame in models on which video projections animate the sets. Some plant elements were added to the drawing, frame by frame.

Tar pits form as petroleum seeps to the surface through fissures in the Earth’s crust, leaving viscous asphalt pools. To make Tar Pits Film, Jennifer West threw a strip of film into the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles, still-bubbling asphalt pools which have seeped from the ground for tens of thousands of years. The film was then ridden over hot asphalt by a motorcycle and drenched in other substances including thick mayonnaise and body lotion.

Through interspersed conversation and prose, this experimental documentary follows a poet and a neuroscientist as they explore the definition of love, what it means, and why it matters.
